Meet the team

The Talk Science team split their time between travelling across the UK delivering the Talk Science CPD course and developing products and resources that support contemporary science discussion in the classroom back at their base in the Science Museum.

The team are:

Beth with Gordon the rat-brained robotBeth Hawkins: Talk Science Project Leader

Beth studied Zoology BSc at Royal Holloway, University of London before completing her PGCE in Secondary Biology and Science at Durham University. She worked as a science teacher for over 10 years in two London schools, and completed an MA in Science Education at King’s College London.

She has a great love of anything that glitters or sparkles and has a growing collection of rubber ducks! (some of which feature on this site!)

Andrew with Gordon and a disembodied handAndrew Dand: Talk Science Project Developer

Andrew has spent the past 6 years working in museum education: 2 years in the Learning team at Urbis in Manchester and 4 years at The Science Museum in London (working as an Explainer and Show Developer before moving to the Talk Science Project).

He likes to spend his free time singing, performing magic tricks and eating cake – though not all at once!
